JAMB announces 2023 most sought after institutions, considers the use of mobile phones for UTME.
The top two universities for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations are the University of Lagos and the University of Ilorin, both in Nigeria. The top 10 institutions were recognized as a result of the high number of applicants during the 2023 UTME application period, according to a presentation made by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2023 policy meeting.
In the list, the University of Ilorin was first, followed by the University of Lagos in second place, Lagos State University in third place,Federal University, Oye-Ekiti in fourth place.
Others in the top 10 are University of Benin, University of Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nnamdi Azikwe University, Nigerian Defence Academy and the University of Ibadan.
JAMB has also revealed that it is considering the possibility of a “Bring Your Own Device” initiative for the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations and the Direct Entry Examinations. According to Oloyede, the initiative is such that it would allow candidates to take the examinations on their mobile phones. The JAMB boss noted that the board has continued to spend huge amounts of money on the conduct of examinations, hence the need for the initiative.
RECOMMENDED: JAMB has approved the cutoff scores.
